Sylvistia, more commonly known as Sylvester, and Annie Sims first opened what was then Alco in 1979. The location was a 10-by-20 building in Gardendale, TX. Annie operated the business while Sylvester was employed at Olsen Engineering during the day. He worked on irrigation designs at night. The following year, the Sims moved the business to a bigger location and Sylvester resigned his position at Olsen to fully focus on turning Alco into a successful irrigation operation. In 1982, the business was incorporated, and the name changed to Sims Services Inc.
They expanded in 1986 with the purchase of Parker Plastics. This caused growth not only in business, but product lines as well. In 1988, the business relocated to its current spot in Odessa, TX. At the time, three people were employed. Midland Plastics was purchased in 1992 and the Midland branch opened. In 1995, the Sims’ grandson, Glynn Braudaway, signed on. Sylvester Sims passed away on Christmas Day in 1996, after a lengthy fight with leukemia. Those who knew him will always remember him as a good and honest man. In 1998, the company changed back to its current name: Sims Plastics. A Waco branch opened in 2002 named Sims Plastics of Waco.
Today, Sims Plastics is a leader in irrigation, oilfield, septic, and municipal products. We now employ 20 people. Annie Sims continues to be our owner, while Glynn Braudaway is the company president. He wants to continue the success that Sims Plastics has seen throughout the years by doing business the same way his grandparents always did: with honesty and integrity.
We'd be happy to have you join our team!
